Summary

A LiveOps designer who ships events and features from concept to post-launch tuning. Promoted from QA into design after pitching live-content changes the team shipped, he now designs six to seven live events a year, built the event UI pattern that every event in his game now uses, and does his own balancing with monetisation integrity as a hard constraint. His live-service experience is on PC, and that event, progression and economy work carries straight over to mobile F2P.

Experience

  • Three years of design experience within four years at a long-established European games company, all on a long-running live-service MMORPG with a veteran player base. Joined as an Associate QA Analyst testing live updates, events and permanent content, and was promoted into design after pitching changes to live content that the team picked up and shipped.
  • Owns events and features end to end: concept, mechanics, sales beats, reward structures, UI, balancing and design documentation, through implementation support, launch, feedback review and post-launch tuning. Designs six to seven live events a year, from small experimental beats to major seasonal releases, and builds reusable event systems rather than one-offs.
  • Designed the game's event completion window. It started as a small-event experiment and became the standard event UI, now used in every event: progression, objectives and rewards in one player-facing surface, with milestones and rewards surfaced as the player progresses. Has also worked on combining events rather than running them in isolation.
  • Strong feature redesign track record. After a major expansion launched to weak community reception and low adoption, he reworked its onboarding, progression loops, reward clarity and player motivation; the relaunch reached 50% DAU participation within its first month. Has also refreshed several major recurring events with new mechanics, reward structures, secret quests and boss encounters.
  • Works directly from player data to decide where to expand, where players are being lost and where engagement can be recovered, and works closely with community managers on the qualitative side. His events regularly score 9 to 10 out of 10 in internal post-event community reports built from player feedback.
  • Currently leading an expansion to a core system, including the plan and roadmap, driving stand-ups and owning its development. Does all his own balancing across quests, events and NPCs, treating monetisation integrity as a constraint that must not break.

Motivations

Wants a bigger challenge and more scope than his current role allows.

Recruiter notes

Ready-made for mobile LiveOps: event calendars, milestone rewards, progression loops and monetisation-safe balancing are the backbone of mobile F2P, and he has run all of them on a live game with a demanding player base.

Builds the screens and UI for his designs as close to production-ready as he can, so teams see how a feature will actually look in game. That screen-first habit suits mobile, where the event UI is the feature.

Has seen a feature fail and fixed it: the expansion relaunch is a rare, measurable redesign win.
